Dear future Pilot students,
I have some advice for those who want it.
Pilot is a different experience for everyone. Some thrive and really push themselves and some struggle and do the bare minimum.
The majority of the time I struggled and ended up doing the bare minimum.
Somethings to keep in mind:

Somethings to keep in mind:
- Do not compare your study to anyone else's.
- Everyone is difference, study's are different, projects are different and work load is different.
- Finish your learning plan as soon as possible, time goes by quickly. You need all the time to work on your study as you can get.
- Start writing your narrative at least a week before your exhibition, do not focus on any other Pilot work until your narrative is complete.
- Bring water to your exhibition, your throat will thank me later.
- Flash cards with main talking points for each slide of your exhibition presentation were very helpful to me
- Time yourself on your phone during your exhibition to make sure your not going to fast or too slow.
- Consistent documentation is key.
- I recommend creating a documentation folder in each content standard folder in google drive. For visual documentation, do progress pictures and videos. For written documentation, draft written work. For an essay or other written pieces, create a folder for that project and keep each draft as well as notes and other work in that folder. This makes navigation and grading easier for advisors. All of your work is organized in one place.
- When blogging, include links to your documentation folder. This way, you don't have to go through the hassle of uploading documentation directly to your blog, links to work count as documentation even if the work is not directly on the blog.
- Plan ahead.
- Do not count on an entire project just coming to you through research. Even if a new project does come to mind during research, plan one ahead of time so incase it does not you have a way to apply the information you have learned.
- Set up future meetings with your advisors while you are meeting with them. It is expected you meet with each advisor around every two weeks. Pilot life is busy and sometimes overwhelming, you will forget to set meetings. In order to avoid an ass kicking at your exhibition, stay in touch with advisors.
- If something isn't working, do something about it.
- If you know your project isn't going as well as you think it could, talk to your advisors. They are there to help you and it will look 100% better if you admit your are struggling and not doing good work rather than if you play it off as though everything is fine. Advisors appreciate it when you admit things could have gone better, as long as you make a plan to move forward. Fellow Pilot students are also and outlet if you need support or advice.
- GET A MENTOR
- The search for a mentor can be difficult. Finding connections, depending on your study, isn't always super difficult due to the support and guidance provided by the program. Although, finding connections that stick can be difficult. Don't put it off. Mentors help.
